Oedipus
Born with an oracle that consisted of death and incest, Oedipus was a character who came from two families of royalty. Oedipus's original parents were King Laius and his wife, Jocasta. Once King Laius knew of his sons destiny, Laius abandoned his son on Cithaeron in hopes of his demise. A kind Shepard saved Oedipus's life and he was later adopted by King Polybus of Corinth and his wife. The two of them raided Oedipus as their son until he reached his young child hood.
Reaching his young childhood, Oedipus left Corinth to find out his true origins. A man came up to Oedipus and told him that he was adopted. Shocked at the news he heard, Oedipus traveled to the oracle at Delphi to learn his fate and destiny. Learning that his destiny was him killing his father and marrying his mother, he decided to never return back to Corinth. As he was traveling to Thebes, Oedipus meets Laius who was not only the King of Thebes, but also his father. Unknown of the fact that Laius was his father, when he provoked a fight with him, Oedipus decided to kill him. Unaware of the situation and the relationship, Oedipus enters Thebes where he encounters the crazy Sphinx that kills anyone that does not get the riddle correct. The sphinx approaches Oedipus with the riddle and Oedipus to her shock answered it correctly. Because of his correct answer, the sphinx killed herself. After killing his father, the king and the sphinx, Oedipus enters Thebes where he is now he new king.
As the new king of Thebes, Oedipus is to marry the queen of Thebes. With all this information being thrown at him so rapidly, Oedipus forgets about the oracle and simply agrees. He sees his future wife and is ok with marrying her. Now happy and married with four kids, Eteocles, Polyneices, Antigone, and Ismene, Oedipus and his wife Jocasta do not realizes who they are. Later on in their happy lives, Jocasta and Oedipus learn of their relationships with one another which causes outrage, confusion, and uproar. The oracle that stated he would kill his father and marry his mother was finally fulfilled. Jocasta extremely grossed out committed suicide and Oedipus, in a state of disgust gouged out his eyeballs. Now blinded, Oedipus went into exile with Antigone and Ismene. Doing this, he left his brother-in-law Creon in charge as a regent.
