The Beginning of the Fall of Troy
During the Fall of Troy, the Greeks fooled the Trojans into believing that they had abandoned the war by sailing away and leaving a giant wooden structure in the shape of a horse known as the Trojan horse. The Trojans took the horse believing it was an offering from Athena. In truth, a few Greek Soldiers hid within the horse and emerged in the night to open the gates for the returning Greek army. After this, the Greeks were able to invade the city with ease. The Attack On Troy When the Trojans found the horse they wanted to burn it and push it off a cliff at first. Others argued that it would bring them luck in replace of the stolen Palladium. The Trojans were warned by the prophets Cassandra and Lacoon but no one believed them. After the Trojans fell asleep drunken from celebrating thinking that they have won Sinon freed the Greeks and sent a beacon to the Greek fleet, which returned. Those inside opened the gates and the attack. The Greeks seized the city in a single night. The Gods were angered so much that they didn’t let the Greeks return home. The Gods put them in a viscous storm which wrecked nearly every ship. But nothing mattered to the Trojans for their city was burned to ash. |
